In honour of one of the luckiest goals in Newcastle’s decorated history Malay Mail Afternoon has compiled five other strikes low on quality, high on fortune.

Here’s a reminder of Mo Diame’s “finish” in the Championship top of the table clash with Brighton on Tuesday.

> The Magpies snatched 2-1 victory in the dying moments to leapfrog Premier League hopefuls Brighton by two points in the table.

Here are more straight off the training ground.

Beach ball vs Liverpool

> One Liverpool fan told Callum Campbell he’d make him into a curry after he gifted Sunderland a 1-0 win with a stray inflatable.

> Calls for a rematch were refused and title-chasing Liverpool finished second, just four points behind Man United.

Stan Collymore vs Blackburn

> But it’s not all bad Liverpool fans.

> Remember that clump of dirt that helped secure 3-2 victory at Blackburn in 1996?

> Look away now Tim Flowers.

Philipp Schoesberg vs Viktoria Plzen

> Rapid Vienna striker threw everyone off with his tricky footwork in this Europa League group match – even himself!

Papiss Cisse vs Shanghai SIPG

> Cisse swapped Newcastle for Chinese Super League’s Shandong Luneng last year.

> Sure, China are expecting a lot from foreign stars who’ve plied their trade in England’s top flight, but of this acrobatic calibre? At least they're getting their money's worth!

Wind vs Romford

> Plucked from England’s semiprofessional league, a reminder why it’s never a good idea to play in a storm.

> The freak finish went down as an own goal by Thurrock defender Kamarl Duncan. The match finished 1-1.
