Alive and singing

A-      A+

THIS is a weird one.

Everyone’s favourite pop-rock princess, Avril Lavigne, had to set some rumours straight to confirm that she wasn’t a clone.

She was responding to an absurd conspiracy theory (aren’t they all) that she died in 2003 and was replaced by a clone.

Sure she might have slipped away from the public eye after the death of her grandfather, who she was very close to, but the talk of the internet was that she took her own life too.

The singer, who had major success in the early 2000s, was working on new music and battling Lyme disease.

“Some people think that I’m not the real me, which is so weird!

“Like, why would they even think that?” she said.

Lavigne recently released her first song in five years, Head Above Water, and has been quietly dating a new beau.

Looks like she has been living it up.
