AS most competitions go, the recent World Durian Championship 2018: Malaysia Edition had its fair share of thorny issues due to its nature but it has proven that the best D24 durian in the country comes from Sime Darby Property Berhad’s Planters’ Haven.
This was revealed during the contest held at the Bangi Golf Resort, when fruits from Planters’ Haven West bagged the top prize while ones from Planters’ Haven East were placed second.
The contest was organised as part of a durian festival that attracted thousands of durian lovers from across the country. The spiky fruits were judged based on presentation, taste, texture, colour, aroma and after taste.
“We’ve always known that our D24 durians are unique. We served them at an event recently and people were still talking about them a week after,” said Sime Darby Property general manager Mohamad Jalani Mohamad Said.
Planters’ Haven is situated on 246 acres of orchard land with gentle rolling hills and lush greenery, just an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur. It is a nature-inspired residential enclave which offers 158 large units of land for those looking for a weekend retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.
“This place is a perfect getaway for city folk,” continued Jalani. “We’ve not just planted durians, we also have rambutan and pulasan fruit trees. We plan to plant more fruit trees in the future, making this a truly one-of-a-kind development.”
