37 illegal immigrants held in Kuala Kangsar raid

KUALA KANGSAR — A woman was among 37 illegal immigrants detained at a construction site here yesterday.

Perak Immigration director Kamaluddin Ismail said in the three-hour Op Mega 2.0 conducted from midnight, Immigration enforcement personnel detained an Indonesian woman and six Indonesian men, a Bangladeshi and four Myanmar nationals during the first raid.

“In the second raid, 25 were detained, comprising nine Indonesian men and 16 Bangladeshi nationals,” he said yesterday.

Kamaluddin said the illegals, aged between 30 and 60, were found to be without valid travel and employment documents and were taken to the Ipoh Immigration Department for further action.
