RAPID KL recently shared the joy of Deepavali across the Klang Valley with exciting cultural activities to celebrate the festival of lights with its commuters at the KL Sentral, Hang Tuah, Sentul and Pasar Seni LRT stations.
Its “Light the Way” campaign kicked off at KL Sentral following the official launch by Prasarana president and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Azmi Abdul Aziz and Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Ir Zohari Sulaiman.
Adding a special touch to the launch were 10 children from the Lighthouse Children’s Welfare Home (LCWH), who helped complete the kolam centrepiece, specially designed by renowned Malaysian artist and storyteller Ruby Subramaniam, whose works have been showcased at Unesco’s World Humanities Conference in Belgium as well as exhibitions in London and Paris, among others.
During the campaign, commuters were able to enjoy activities such as dhol drum performances and henna art hosted at the chosen stations.
“Malaysia is a nation connected by our rich cultural and religious heritage and our stations are potential hubs that connect the community across the city centre and suburbs,” said Azmi.
“As we travel through life, embracing the diversity and learning more about other cultures can be a way of strengthening ties to bring about greater harmony.”
The campaign, he said was to encourage residents in the Klang Valley to share in the joy of Deepavali and utilise the four stations in the process.
