Guardiola wants two major signings

LONDON — Pep Guardiola is trying to land Germany midfielder Toni Kroos from Real Madrid and he hasn’t given up hope of luring Luis Suarez back to the Premier League. Guardiola has already made two big signings this summer, with Spain international Nolito joining last week for £13.5 million (RM71.5 million) on the back of Ilkay Gundogan. But City haven’t yet landed a Galatico to match Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United and the arrival of Kroos and/or Suarez would change all that. Kroos, 26, spent a year working under Guardiola at Bayern Munich before he was sold to Real for around £21.5 million (RM114 million). An offer of £63 million (RM334 million) would trigger his release clause. The player is understood to be happy in Spain but the opportunity to link with Guardiola appeals to him, as does a switch to the Premier League. Guardiola is also desperate to land former Liverpool bad boy Suarez from Barcelona and has been trying to persuade him to come back to England for months. The 29-year-old, represented by Guardiola’s brother Pere, would cost around £85 million (RM450 million), £20 million (RM106 million) more than Barca paid for him in 2014.
